Looking through poems
Of angry trans people
Trying to find myself and mine
Discussions of resilience
Hard-backed turtles
Curling armadillos
Titanium skin
Cursing and spitting, nail-splitting
But my nails are split ten times over
And the cracks in my bones are filled with clover
Floating through life like a jellyfish in the sea
A crushing wasteland, fed by remains of gods
Everything wants to kill me
I don’t feel trans ‒ I’m not binary* enough to be
*anger or despair
never quite both or anything more
I am a raven drifting on cold northern air
And a soft but stinging jellyfish
Deep in the whalefall sea
